TOXICOLOGY OF PESTICIDES

A CLASSIFICATION OF DANGER FOR PESTICIDES TOXIC TO REPRODUCTION

The paper presents a new classification of danger for pesticides toxic to reproduction, which is a part of common toxico-hygienic pesticide classification. There are the main approaches are placed in the principles of its creating discussed :
1) All pesticides are divided into four categories.
2) A prognosis of the potantial pesticide danger for human reproduction should be done on the basis of animal data.
3) Classification of chemicals as toxic to reproduction should be used for pesticides which have an intrinsic or specific property to produce such toxic effects.
4) The pesticides should be classified taking into account a threshold or non-threshold (germ cell mutagenic) effects.
5) The categorization of dangerous for reproduction substances should be done on the basis of risk assessment.
6) Chemicals placing into Category I should not be recommended to use.
