MODERN ASPECTS OF a-LIPOIC ACID APPLICATION UNDER EXOGENIC TOXIC EXPOSURE
(Review of literature)

The problem on the probability of application of a-lipoic acid, being constituent of the preparation Berlithion 300 oral, as an agent of antidotal therapy in chronic lead intoxication is discussed. The literature data have been generalized about the effect of a-lipoic acid and its analogues on the processes of aerobic carbohydrate oxidation, utilization of sugars and development of normal energetic metabolism; on the immune system, radioprotective effect, etc. The result of recent investigations point to high efficiency in application of a-lipoic acid for diseases of diabetic etiology, gastro-intestinal tract, thyroid gland, etc.
