TOXICOLOGICAL AND PHARMACOLOGICAL PECULIARITIES OF NEUROLEPTICAL DRUG AMINAZINE (Review)

The article is devoted to analytical review of the new and traditional literature data on pharmacology and toxicology of aminazine (chlorpromazine). This drug is one of the main and most prominent neuroleptics of the promazine group. Diverse range of its pharmacological effects and its high effectiveness in the therapy of different pathological statuses determine its considerable value for the psychiatry as well as for many other spheres of clinical practice. Great amount of data about various aspects of this drug's action accumulated in the existing literature requests the critical analysis and systematization. The review examines wide set of problems connected to the pharmacological activeness of aminazine, peculiarities of its pharmacokinetics and metabolism, contemporary conceptions of its action mechanisms, toxic properties in the experiment. The article elucidates further research perspectives in this sphere.
