The aim of the research was to investigate the effects of the inhibiting calcium channels and nitric oxide synthase (NOS) on the number of oocytes and on oocyte meiotic maturation of mouse with autoimmune disorder. It has been determined the relations between verapamil concentrations and methods of its treatment with the main parameters of ovary function. The data demonstrate that calcium channels blocker significantly inhibits the number of ovarian oocytes and oocytes meiotic maturation in vitro. Our results support a role of pharmacological inhibitors of the calcium channels to female infertility.

We observed that significantly greater percentage of mouse oocytes displayed an atypical morphology after subcutaneus injection of both NOS inhibitors and that ovarian nitric oxide synthesis is required for maximal ovulation. The lack of nitric oxide during the periovulatory period results in severe defects in oocyte maturation. It has been concluded that NO may be considered as a mediator involved in various ovarian process, including contribution to female infertility.
