TOXICOLOGY OF DRUGS

SELECTIVE AND NON-SELECTIVE INHIBITORS OF CYCLOOXYGENASE-2

The administration of indomethacine in single dose in the patients with arthritis causes dose-dependent decrease of glomerular filtration rate, which correlate with decrease of the serum nitrates and nitrites concentrations. The two-weeks therapy by indomethacine caused significant increase of urinary excretion of gamma-glutamyltransferase, moderate increase of urinary excretion of aldolase and transaminases, that evidented for its nephrotoxicity. Sodium diclophenac caused smaller change, meloxycam and nimesulid did not influense on these parameters. The determination of gamma-glutamyltransferase's activity in urine is early noninvasive marker of kidneys' damage during NSAID's therapy.
