TOXICOLOGY OF DRUGS

ADVERSE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT CATGUT MODIFICATIONS

V.A. Kostenko

The generation of superoxide anion radicals (in mitochondrions, microsomes and under respiratory burst of leucocytes) in renal tissue has been stadied in the experiment with white rats, which had been carried out nephrotomia with following usage for suture plain catgut made of the sheep and new catgut modifications from the pig raw materials (last thread with different maintenance of fat substances: 1,5—2,0; 2,1—3,0; 3,1—4,0 %). The research proves the use of any catgut leads to its adverse effect connected with the activation of the active oxygen metabolites in first two weeks of postoperative period. The use of catgut made of the pig raw materials with the maintenance of fat substances 1,5—2,0% results in less active common background of superoxide anion radicals production and their generation in mitochondria.
