Using the method of gase chromatography the influence of acute 1,2-dichloroethane poisoning upon the rat brain lipids fatty acids was investigated.

It was shown that in 48 h after 1,2-dichloroethane intoxication the drastic changes in brain lipids fatty acids spectrum have taken place, and namely the increase of myristic (C14:0) and arachidonic (C20:4) acids concomitantly with the essential decrease of stearic (C18:0), oleic (C18:1) and linoleic (C18:2) acids relative content. The additional administration of nicotinamide in 1, 24 and 36 h after 1,2-dichloroethane intoxication resulted in considerable normalization of rat brain fatty acids distribution.
