With an aim of its hygienic standardization, we undertook a toxicological study of L-Thyroxine natrium salt (L-T NS), a substance used in manufacturing of the hormonal drug applied in treatment of hypothyrosis, toxic goiter, and thyroid gland cancer. Inhalatory introduction of L-T NS to rats was conducted within the special chambers under the 1-fold (4 hrs) exposition in 0,103; 0,56; 1,43 and 5,0 mg/m3 concentrations. Has been found that inhalatory impact of L-T NS leads to the dosage-dependent hyperthyrotoxinemia which is accompanied by the thyrotoxicosis signs (encrease of POL, breach of the CVS functional status, shiftings in leukogramme and in certain integral indices). The calculated size of TSELS for L-T NS in the working area air was defined at 0,001 mg/m3, but even such a norm does not guarantee the full elimination of its intoxication danger. Therefore we concluded in recommendation of such a reliable prophylactic measure as the complete exclusion of the occupational contact with L-T NS during the manufacturing process of the final drug form of L-Thyroxine.
