Mutagenic activity of synthetic vanillin (3-methoxy-4-hydroxybenzaldehyde) was studied on laboratory animals by means of cytogenetic method. The substance didn't induce either genomial or chromosomal disturbances of genetic apparatue of bone marrow at intragastric administration to animals during 1, 6 and 12 month.
